Parents and students, welcome to my ESOL class! I'm so excited to be working with you on your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills! We will cover a lot of the same skills that students are learning in their grade level classes, just in a more sheltered environment. Currently, the 4th and 5th graders are learning about immigrants in the 1800s as well as today. We are also practicing the skill of restating a question before answering it. Watch the video below of an example if you would like to practice this with your child at home! This skill can be used for any question in any subject!

Kindergarten is working on phonics. There is also a video example below if you would like to practice at home. It is also a great idea to think of words that begin with the same letters.

All of my classes should be reading every night! 4th and 5th for 20 minutes and Kindergarten for 10. It would also be great if parents asked them questions about what they read, what they think about what they read, and how they can relate it to their own life experiences.
